Sun poisoning on lips symptoms

Symptoms and treatments for sun lip poisoning

Sun poisoning is a more colloquial term for a medical condition known as photodermatitis. It is caused due to an allergic reaction to the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, resulting in an inflammation of the skin. It normally appears in the form of a rash, on the area of skin that has been exposed to the sun for example, the back, neck, hands. However there may be other factors that can contribute to this condition as well, namely: drugs, certain chemicals present in perfumes, sunscreens, cosmetics etc. The symptoms of sun poisoned lips are as follows; dry itch lips, a burning sensation much like that of a sunburn and the lips feel warm when touched.

However there are few simple lip care home remedies that one can follow in order to get relief. Take equal quantities of turmeric powder, honey, basil leaves and margosa leaves. Grind them all together so as to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your lips and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. You could also make a mixture from a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey, and apply it on your lips. It will reduce the stinging sensation and will help it heal faster. Cucumber is known to have a very cooling effect. You can grate a small piece of cucumber and mix it with a little milk. Apply it on the affected area; it will help soothe the skin. Aloe vera can also help in getting rid of the sting. All you need to do is squeeze some extract from the leaf and apply it on your lips. Cod liver oil could also be used as an alternative. All you need to do is spread a few drops of the oil on your lips 2 – 3 times in a day.

Take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and soak a small piece of cloth in it. Next gently dab the cloth on your lips. This will soothe the burn and help in the healing process as well. Milk could also be used in the same manner to provide relief from the burn. Potato juice is also very effective. Squeeze the juice of a potato and apply it on your lips, leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. Do not apply any kind of a lip balm or even a lip gloss on your lips till they heal totally. This is because they contain chemicals that could aggravate the condition further.

Natural lip bleaching for the treatment of discolored lips

Smoking has been linked to any number of serious and potential fatal medical conditions, including lung cancer and coronary heart disease. Your experience of lips turning dark and ‘black’ is one of the milder and common effects of smoking. It is mainly due to the staining effect of tobacco and the many chemicals used in cigarettes. Consumption of caffeine in the form of tea or coffee can also contribute to the darkening effect. Finally, prolonged exposure to sunlight’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation can accelerate the process of reducing the natural, healthy color of your lips. If you also consume alcohol in addition to smoking, you can be at risk of developing carcinoma (skin cancer) on your lips. All of the above are excellent reasons for you to kick the habit now. After five years of smoking, you still have a reasonable chance of improving your lung function, reducing the risk of serious disease, and living a healthier life.

You can begin to repair the cosmetic damage to your lips only once you decide to quit smoking. This is simply because no remedy can work if you continue to stain the lips. You should also consider avoiding tea and coffee during your treatment. A good start is to begin a mild exfoliation of the skin on your lips. This can help to remove the outer layers which are darker in color. A gentle massage with a toothbrush can help, but be careful not to get impatient and overdo this process; you will only damage your lips. You could also apply a mild moisturizer such as glycerin or petroleum jelly on the lips. This will help soothe the skin and prevent further staining.

A popular natural remedy for treating discolored lips is to massage them with some lime juice, since the acidic nature of the juice makes it a very good bleaching agent. However, do not leave the juice for more than 5 minutes to avoid damaging the skin. You could also soak some cotton in apple cider vinegar and dab the lips with it every day to help bring back the natural smoothness and pinkness of your lips. Some remedies recommend applying almond oil or honey to your lips first thing in the morning for 15 minutes before rinsing. This is believed to refresh the skin and moisturize the lips. Another natural solution for discolored lips involves applying some yogurt mixed with pinch of turmeric powder for 15 minutes.

Reduce large pores on face with good skin hygiene and home remedy

Enlarged pores on the face are quite a common concern amongst, not only the female population of the world, but also the male population. Open pores on the face have a tendency to greatly distort the appearance of a person. Most often, though, it is the lack of good skin hygiene that causes the pores to remain open. The pores help in guiding the oil created by the sebaceous glands to the upper layers of the skin. However, when skin is not cared for, the dead skin cells on the upper layers of the skin can gather in the open pores causing them to appear open and larger. The enlarged skin pores will eventually lead to greasy, rough as well as bumpy facial skin. There are a number of home remedies to reduce skin pores prominence on face. Try a few of the remedies listed below:

  • Heat some water to the point it lets out a sufficient amount of stem. Make sure the water is not boiling or too hot as this could end up causing more damage to your skin than healing it. Place your head over the water and drape a towel over your head to prevent a significant amount of stem from escaping. This part of the process will help to clean skin pores and the heat will create sweat, which in turn will flush the pores on your face. Once this is done, the pores and clean. Take a facecloth and pour some lemon juice over it. Put this facecloth over your face for about a minute. Since lime is a natural bleaching agent, it will help lighten up the overall tone of your skin as well as tighten the skin. Once your pores are sufficiently clean and tight, apply an ice cube over your pores, keeping it in each location for about 15 to 30 seconds.
  • Vegetables and fruits with astringent qualities will help smoothen and even out the skin texture and reduce the open pores. Create a mixture using a few drops of lime juice and some tomato juice and apply this on the open pores and let it rest for about 20 minutes before washing it off with cold water.
  • The juices of pineapple, peaches and papaya are also very good in dealing with pores. If you start to use powdered orange peel instead of soap, you will start to see quite remarkable results.

Hirsutism is a fairly common condition where the facial or body hair tends to be of quite a prominent color. While most men are not greatly affected, it can have n extremely adverse effect on the aesthetic appeal of a woman. Approximately 10% of women suffer from this condition. Through the lifecycle of a person, there are different classifications of hair depending on what they look like and at what age they occur. The initial downy hair formed on a baby or toddlers head is called lanugo hair. Vellus hair is a non-pigmented, soft and short hairs that grown in areas that are seemingly hairless while the terminal hair is a pigmented, coarse type of hair that makes up the scalp hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and pubic hair. The conversion of vellus hair to terminal hair usually takes place around the ages of puberty and is greatly determined by testosterone and androgen levels in the body. The condition can be influenced by a number of actors like genetics, where the condition is past down from previous generations; an excessive use of steroids as well as reactions or side effects of certain medication. Due to hormonal imbalances, cancer may also be a deciding factor in the appearance of darker facial hair.

Bleaching is a widely practiced method of diminishing the prominence of the unwanted facial hair and is generally quite safe with no reported side effects. However, it is essential that you follow the manufacturers directions of application as stringently as possible as it will help get the best results. As far as home remedies go, you could create a paste by mixing 2 teaspoons of gram flour to a pinch of turmeric powder along with a little milk. Mix the ingredients well and apply the paste to your face and neck. Scrub it off after 15 minutes using only your fingertips and a little water. Then wash the face again with a bit of lukewarm water. However, this is a gradual remedy and will take about 3 or 4 months to reflect noticeable results. A faster method of getting rid of unwanted facial hair is threading or waxing. Initially you might want to go to a saloon to have the hair threaded and later on start doing it on your own. Another home remedy for removing unwanted facial hair would be to blend the egg-white from a single egg and mix ½ a teaspoon of corn flour and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Create a paste and apply over the unwanted hair. Peel it off once dried.

Dark upper lip treatment to make lips pink naturally at home

Get pink lips using exfoliation technique at home

It is widely believed that dark lips are caused by a person’s addiction to either smoking or caffeine. While they are leading causes, they are by no means the only causes and generally only serve to exacerbate the process. The underlying reason for dark lips at most times is the fact that we do not take as much care of our lips as we do of our skin. The lips are made up of the same tissue that forms your skin, yet the skin will get much more attention. The skin is moisturized, cleaned and exfoliated on numerous occasions and yet, the lips are forgotten at most times. Lips tend to become darker primarily because of exposure to the sun and lack of exfoliation. To elaborate, just as the skin has a tendency to create darker colored melanin to aid its defense again skin cancer, the lips do exactly the same to protect themselves. Exfoliation is a technique used to remove the older layers of skin that remain on the epidermis (the upper most layer of skin), restricting new skin cells to grow in their place. Another reason for the darkening of lips is a lack of moisture. The skin will receive its moisture from the many cosmetic accessories deigned specifically for it as well as the sweat glands and sebaceous glands while the lips have to depend mostly on the saliva from the mouth or petroleum jelly if applied. Lips can also turn dark as a result of the individual being allergic to chemicals contained in lipsticks and lip balms.

As mentioned previously, one possible cause for dark lips is the lack of exfoliation. However, it is imperative that the lips are exfoliated in the right way as simply tearing out layers of dead cells is likely to damage your lips considerably. When starting to exfoliate, apply some lemon juice over your lips and let your lips absorb it for some time. You will feel a slight burning sensation on the lips. Then take your toothbrush and gently rub away the upper layers of dead skin. This helps to cure dark lips. If the dark lips are caused by allergic reactions to lipsticks or balms, you will need to stop using the current brand. You can also try to regain the lost lip glow by applying a mixture of lemon juice and almond oil on them. A solution of cocoa butter, peanut oil and avocado should be able to do the trick as well.

Home remedy for the treatment of photo dermatitis

It is common knowledge that sunlight can be very harmful for the skin. However, there are a few individuals whose skin is highly sensitive to the sunlight and react very badly when exposed to ultraviolet rays. The ultra violet rays emitted by the sun are classified primarily on their wavelength and the higher the wavelength, the more serious the reaction due to dermatitis. Most of the time, dermatitis will result in an outbreak of itchy, scaly, blistery or a reddening of the skin. The condition can be brought on by a number of factors. Factors like genetics, allergic reactions and medication all play their role in inflicting a person with photo dermatitis. People at a risk of developing the condition normally have fair skin, either blonde or red hair and people with green or blue eyes. People that are exposed to the sun are obviously at a higher risk, especially those exposed to it during the morning and afternoons when the sun is at its most destructive. A warm shower will help increase the circulation in the affected areas of skin and also help exfoliation and removal of the dead skin cells, allowing newer skin cells to grow in its place. You can also create a mixture consisting of milk with grated cucumber and apply this over the affected area. Aloe vera gels have also had a tremendous effect on skin disorders including treatment of photo dermatitis. If you have extensive sun burns, apply raw onions over the affected areas for abundant relief from the pain. It is very important to take good care of your skin. Avoid going into the sun without sunscreen as it will act as a block from the harmful ultra violet rays. You should also avoid venturing into the sun between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. as this is when the suns rays are most harmful

Natural oily skin care tips at home to reduce skin oiliness

Control oily skin by eating healthy skin care diet

Oily skin can be a real bane at times. Apart from the obvious aesthetic repulsion, its sticky nature will also attract dust and dirt and cause them to cling onto the skin. This will not only cause the skin to look unclean, but could also give rise to other problems like blocked pores. Oily skin is primarily brought about by the over production of sebum, an oil produced by the sebaceous glands located under the layers of skin. The excess oil will accumulate over the skin causing it to look greasy. If unattended to, it could cause blemishes and pimples. If a particle of dust enters a pore on the skin, it could lead to a blockage that prevents the sebum oil from reaching the skin. Since the sebaceous glands are already over – productive, they will build up behind this blockage at an increased rate causing a pimple to form on the outer layer of skin. The pimple will contain some bacterial infection as well and, if proactively opened, could lead to an outbreak of acne.

When treating oily skin, the efforts are primarily focused on removing the excess oil while making sure that the skin does not become too dry. Most of the time, the best way to accomplish this is to change what you eat. Foods rich in proteins but have a low composition of sugar; fluids and salt are highly recommended. Increasing your intake of vegetables, fruits and grains are helpful as well. A deficiency of Vitamin B2 is known to have a major role in the development of oily skin. Keep your skin hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of water. 3 liters a day should be more than enough, but may need to be increased depending on weather conditions and rate of evaporation of moisture from the body. Aloe vera has a number of healing properties for the skin and can also help in controlling oily skin problem. Lavender water will also help tremendously with oily skin. Try spraying a little lavender water on your skin several times through the day. Smoking causes the pores in your skin to become larger and it impairs the overall health of the skin so breaking this habit would help reduce skin oiliness. Avoid the excess use of soap to wash your face. While once a day is fine, washing your face with soap more often will rob your skin of its natural oils and cause the sebaceous glands to produce even more sebum.

How to remove black spot on face using skin bleaching agents?

The black spots you notice on your head are likely to be caused by a previous outbreak of acne in that region. When you burst or scratch any of the pimples, whiteheads or blackheads that come with acne, they are very likely to leave a permanent mark on your skin. In order to lighten dark pigmentation of the mark, you could try to wash them daily with some lemon water. Leave the solution on for about 15 minutes before taking a shower. Lime water is known to be very effective as lime is a natural bleaching agent. Mixing lemon with cucumber juice is another trusted remedy for treating dark skin spots. Apply it on your face and let it be there over the course of the night. Wash it off in the morning. Use this remedy for 1 week to see results. You could also try using apple cider vinegar to treat these marks as apple cider vinegar helps get rid of toxins and bacteria in the skin that could possibly be an aggravator for the black marks on your skin. Also try to exfoliate the skin as this will help get rid of any dead skin cells that exist on your forehead by promoting blood circulation and new cell regeneration. Moreover, it is also vital that your refrain from scratching any scars or blemishes on your skin as this will lead to a permanent mark being left behind.
Once the tone of the dark pigmentation has reduced, it is important to make sure you take good care of your skin. Exposing the skin to too much sunlight and heat could do tremendous damage to it; in fact it leads to high levels of evaporation of moisture essential to the skin. The skin will then turn darker than your natural color and will also be susceptible to other serious conditions like skin cancer. It is important that you apply sunscreen effectively when exposing your skin to the sun on a daily basis. This will help reduce the moisture evaporation as well as act as a protective factor against any harmful ultra violet rays of the sun. A diet consisting of wheat flour, sugar, tea, coffee and soft drinks will bring about premature aging, wrinkles and largely unattractive skin. Avoid these types of food and start to include a higher intake of foods that have a high content of Vitamin B. There are a number of facial masks that you can prepare at home to get rid of skin blemishes.

How to tighten loose skin by increasing the skin elasticity

Increase skin elasticity for tightening the loose skin

One of the biggest problems people face when they have successfully been able to reduce their weight by a large amount, over a relatively short period of time is loose skin. The skin has tremendous elasticity as is proven in the case of pregnant women, but this elasticity needs to be maintained by taking care of ones skin. The reason being, that it has a tendency to lose some of this elasticity with age. It is also important that the skin was made to stretch continuously over a considerable period of time until you reached your highest weight and should not be expected to become extremely tight after an overnight weight loss. As a result, most surgeons will suggest that you consider surgical removal for the excess skin only about 2 years after you have reached your weight loss target. This is to allow you to exhaust any other natural ways to shed the excess skin as well as to allow the skin enough time to return to its intended tautness. It is also important to know that the length of time the skin will take to become tight will depend a lot on how long it was required to carry the excess weight. Even though a person has lost weight, it is still very possible that the body still contains excess fat. It is important to replace this fat with muscular tissue as this will help considerably in tightening up the skin.

To increase the elasticity of skin, you could try using aloe vera extract, yeast extract or soy protein as this will help increase your body’s production of elastin and collagen which help tighten the skin as well as improve the skins natural defenses. Exfoliate your skin regularly as this will help get rid of any dead skin cells as well as promote blood circulation and stimulate its tightening up. Consumption of raw cucumber, tomato, olives and coconut will help with skins elasticity as well. Acai berry creams have also been known to work well in tightening up the skin. Most people show improvement within 4 to 5 weeks of its application and it has no undesired effects. You will find a number of products in the market today that will advertise with a guarantee to tighten skin up, however, most of these products are not effective and will only cause you to suffer a financial loss. The important thing is to remember to lose the skin naturally as this will also help the overall health of the skin.

How to treat pimples and pimple scar marks naturally at home

How to reduce pimple and pimple scars at home using natural remedy

Pimples are a very common problem for most teenagers today. No matter how much care you take of your skin or body, there is always a high chance that you will get a pimple during the age of puberty and some will even tend to get pimples when they turn into adults. There are a number of reasons that one can get a pimple. One of the most common reasons that a person will get a pimple is the dirt in the air today. Very often, a microscopic piece of dirt will get stuck in a pore in your skin. The pore is an avenue for the sebaceous glands, located under the layers of skin, to excrete the natural oils they produce to the upper layers of the skin. If the pore gets blocked, the oils produced by the sebaceous glands (also known as sebum) starts to build up behind the blockage.

The build up of the oils will react with the bacteria on the dirt and become infected. A number of people tend to burst the pimples prematurely without understanding that an action like this will cause the bacterial infection contained within the pimple to spread over a larger area of the skin and cause a possible outbreak of acne. Pimples are also very often caused by genetics as well as an unhealthy diet.

Due to the amount of people impacted by pimple outbreaks throughout the year, almost every part of the world has a home remedy for pimples that they will swear by. You can try a few of the following to see what suits you best.

• Papaya is well known for its skin maintenance properties. Create a paste using the skin and seeds along with the pulp and apply this over the pimples to cure pimples.
• Make a paste by combining ground sesame seeds with water and apply this on the affected areas. It is also known to work wonders with skin rashes and skin allergies.
• Benzoyl peroxide is an easily available over the counter medicine that you could purchase from your local chemist. Apply this solution over the pimples.
• Applying a paste of orange peel over your face is another effective way to deal with pimples.
• Create a paste by combining boiled milk and fresh lime juice and use this as a facial wash to fight the blackheads.
• Another effective treatment for pimples is applying grated potatoes over the infected area. This will also help other skin problems like boils, whiteheads and skin blemishes.

How to get rid of pimple scar

Pimple treatment using natural honey and cinnamon powder

Pimples can be some of the most irritating skin problems to have. Not only do they seem to erupt at precisely the most inopportune times, they also seem to behave extremely disobediently. Pimples are generally formed when the pore that exists between the upper layers of the skin and the sebaceous glands located under the skin, gets blocked or clogged. The pores act as a route for the underlying sebaceous glands to transport some of the sebum to the upper layers of the skin when required. However, if the pore is to somehow get blocked, the sebum will start to collect behind the blockage. At such times, the collected sebum may also react with the normally inactive bacteria present on our skin and become infected. All the while, the continuous production of sebum causes an inflammation on the skin which causes it to grow into a pimple. One of the most common human reactions is the urge to burst the pimple proactively. However, this could be the worst choice of action as, if the underlying sebum has become infected after reacting to the presence of the bacteria, bursting the pimple could allow most of the infection to spread over a larger area of the skin and effectively causing an outbreak of acne.
In addition to that, the bursting of the pimple could also possibly leave a permanent scar on the skin. Some home remedies and skin care tips that you could use to help get rid of the pimples and resulting scars are to create a mixture using a mixture of lemon juice and groundnut oil in equal proportions. Apply the paste over the affected area and leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing it off with water. Another rather effective skin care option is to create a paste by mixing three table spoons of honey and one table spoon of cinnamon powder. Apply the paste over the pimple marks just before sleeping and leave it on through the course of the night and wash it off the next morning with the help of some lukewarm water. The application of boiled milk, with fresh lime juice mixed in, can be used regularly as a face wash for a number of skin problems like acne scar, pimples, blackheads and even cracked skin. Maintaining cleanliness of the oil glands is an equally effective way of preventing against pimples as well as helping cure them at a quicker pace. The use of Sulfur soap is extremely effective in this regard.

Nail Care at Home | Strong Finger Nails | Strengthen finger nails

Finger nail treatment using olive oil and garlic

While most people consider the nails to be rather insignificant, the nails can help quite a bit in diagnosing certain problems being faced by the human body. The cosmetic companies have built up the nails as an entirely aesthetic component of the body which, over time, has led to people forgetting that hiding the color of the nail with a layer of nail polish could be hiding away an important sign in the way your body has, or is about to, start malfunctioning. Severe underlying issues like kidney failure could well be the cause of bad looking nails, however, more often than not; the nails indicate the requirement for an additional supply of nutrients and vitamins. While vertical ridges on the nails are quite common and indicate no serious underlying illness or deficiency, it is important that you are alert to the problems that could start if you notice a set of horizontal lines on the nails. Dramatic changes in the texture of the finger nail can also point toward respiratory or circulatory problems along with an autoimmune disease. Sometimes, the nail may change color and develop ridges when it has been exposed to arsenic. You also mention that your finger nails tend to peel and crack rather often. You might want to consider the likelihood of your nails being too hard and dry.

Most commonly, this is caused as a reaction to some harsh chemicals that the nails may come in contact with throughout the day. Just like in a number of skin conditions, the application of Vitamin E either topically or in the form of a daily capsule can help the fingernail regain some of its previous strength much faster than if the whole process were left to chance. The application of olive oil to the finger nails on a regular basis has also been known to have a substantial effect on improving the overall state of the finger nails. You could also try digging your nails into a few cloves of garlic. While this remedy is not very popular as a result of the foul smell, it is known to have great success. You could also try rubbing your hands, cuticles, and fingers with baby oil and sugar to help strengthen the finger nails. A balanced diet, rich in vitamins, proteins as well as calcium is essential in order to take sufficient care of your nails. If your notice a yellowish color on your nails, you may also want to try soaking them in vinegar for some time.

It is essential to understand that the reason your hair is rough and dry is that it lacks a sufficient amount of nutrition. If your hair roots and strands are not well nourished, then your hair will become dry and will break as well. One of the first positive steps you need to take is that you need to cut your hair short. Please understand that it is easier to work with short hair and see results than it is with long hair. Besides, short hair also has a natural tendency to look healthier. You should start following a weekly routine of deep conditioning your hair. This can be done by applying warm olive oil to your hair at least twice a week and leaving it in overnight. Olive oil is recommended because it is highly nourishing in nature and has the natural tendency to provide the essential nutrition via the oils that will help to maintain healthier and more beautiful hair. It is preferable to use extra virgin olive oil, but if you find that this is more expensive that you bargained for, you can also use coconut or almond oil as an alternative. Both are equally effective for your hair as well.

You can also apply a hair pack to your hair once a week or so. Make a very effective one with a tablespoon each of gram flour, fresh yogurt and honey. Add enough milk to this so that it becomes runny and easily applicable. This should be combed into your hair with the use of a conditioner comb and left in for about an hour before shampooing off. Please keep in mind that this may not always come off with one wash, and it may require two or sometimes, even three washes before it is out. Should this be the case, then you should make sure you are using a gentle and mild shampoo. Using harsh shampoos can rob the hair of its natural oils, not to mention that they could also damage your hair in the bargain. You could also get a Lawsonia inermis pack applied to your hair about once every three months or so. Try and get this done professionally, since it is not easy to do it yourself, particularly if you do not know how. Lawsonia inermis can be very messy and can leave behind unattractive stains.

Using Caffeine for Hair Growth Treatment

Your situation is not uncommon. Many people (especially men) suffer from hair fall, which is medically called alopecia. Based on your description, it sounds like you may be suffering from androgenic alopecia, or male pattern baldness. This is a very common form of hair loss that usually starts with hair loss at the top or front of the head, and can occur in both men and women. However, you need to understand that alopecia can be caused by several other factors, including hormonal changes, physical damage, and mental stress. In some cases, hair loss may also be the symptom of certain fungal infections, immune system disorders, or systematic diseases. In addition, the texture of your hair is also important. Alopecia itself can be classified into several types; some other common types of hair loss include Alopecia areata and alopecia circumscripta. The course of treatment for each type of hair fall is different, since the causes are different. Hence, you first need to understand what the root cause of hair fall is in your particular case. Before starting on a treatment, it is advisable to get a professional diagnosis from a dermatologist

In most cases of general hair fall, you can experiment with several home remedies. Some studies have shown that caffeine can help stimulate hair growth. It is recommended that addition of caffeine to shampoo formulations is the most effective method of reaching the hair follicles (hair roots) in the scalp. You can also try a head massage using slightly warmed natural oils like mustard, coconut, or extra virgin olive oil to increase the blood circulation in the scalp and stimulate the hair follicles. Other people have reported benefits from massages with the essential oils of rosemary, lavender, sage, and thyme. These natural herbs are believed to boost blood circulation to the affected region. Some patients have reported good results with evening primrose and flaxseed oils. These contain omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are believed to promote healthy hair by nourishing the hair follicles. It is also advised to take certain minerals, including zinc, magnesium, and iron, along with vitamins like A, B-complex, C, and E.

Stress is an important cause of hair fall in otherwise healthy individuals. If you suffer from stress, please adopt a stress management option such as meditation or yoga. In addition, a healthy diet and regular exercise regime can go a long way to correcting any nutritional imbalances in your body, reducing stress levels, and promoting hair growth and strength.

How to grow hair naturally at home?

Hair growth is largely determined by heredity and genetics and therefore can not be changed or speeded up. Hair growth can however be enhanced by proper hair care that promotes and stimulates hair growth and minimizes hair loss. This will help to improve the quality of your hair and the volume as well.

Your hair growth can be maximized to its full potential if your scalp is healthy and free of any chemical residues and bacteria. In addition to a healthy scalp it is important that your environment is clean and stable, your diet is healthy and you are free of stress. All of these factors are important to ensure healthy tissue and blood vessels, which in turn ensure better hair growth. Here are some hair care tips to grow your hair naturally at home.
• Although it is important that you keep your hair and scalp clean, do not go overboard with the washing and particularly with shampooing and conditioning. Limit your use of shampoos and conditioners to a weekly or bi weekly affair.
• Avoid using harsh cosmetic products on your hair like hair sprays and gels. Try to use natural products even when considering shampoos and conditioners. It is also important that you use products meant specifically for your hair type.
• Never wash your hair with hard water.
• Avoid brushing your hair when it is wet.
• Do not use a hair dryer as this can result in severe damage to your hair.
• Instead of rubbing your hair dry with a towel squeeze it dry.
• If you suffer from a dry hair condition then never comb it when excessively dry.
• Massage your scalp and comb your hair regularly. This will not only improve blood circulation and promote oil secretion in the scalp, but will also minimize the formation of knots.
• If you do have knots and split ends consider trimming your hair.
• Drink a lot of water and eat a well balanced diet to ensure that your hair and scalp receive their nutritional requirements.
• When travelling in particular, try to wear your hair in hairstyles that offer the best possible protection against breakage.

In addition to the above mentioned hair care practices here are some natural remedies that you can follow.

Coconut oil is one of the best natural remedies for your hair. It meets almost all your hair needs, providing it with nourishment, healing the structure of hair that is damaged and protecting it from ultraviolet radiation. Apply some oil to your hair and scalp and massage it in gently. Do this as regularly as possible.

Lavender oil also has healing properties and several health benefits for your hair. It is particularly useful against hair loss.
Aromatherapy and steam treatment are also very effective and can significantly improve your hair growth cycle.

Dietary treatment for oily skin

The first part of dealing with oily skin problem is also in realizing that what you are undergoing is a natural process of the glands of the skin moisturizing your face. Puberty and adolescence, the ages between 12 and 18, are usually the times when you face the most issues with oily skin. This is because of the hormonal surge in the body during that time. Naturally, with improper skin care, this over secretion ends up causing acne, which can lead to further cosmetic problems if not taken care of properly. However, at the age of 24, an oily face is not the result of only hormonal surges. Ideally, the best treatment would just be to clean your face when the oiliness irritates you, but in a very bad case the use of an astringent might be necessary. A simpler solution also lies in intelligent substitution of oils. This concept can be better understood when you understand skin oil production better.
Skin oil is medically called sebum and is secreted by the sebaceous glands. Sebum’s chemical composition is chiefly triglycerides and essential fatty acids – therefore the oily consistency of it. The level of activity of the sebaceous glands is controlled by factors like weather, hormones, and sometimes the levels of fat intake. Diet does play a small role in the activity levels of the glands as can be seen in people who indulge in fructose and chocolate. Both of these tend to stimulate hormonal release that further goes on to stimulate the sebaceous glands. Therefore, cut back on the junk food and stay off saturated fat. This will basically end up restricting your diet to a vegetarian one and possibly just fresh fruits and salads with the occasional indulgence in junk food and soft drinks. Seafood is also permitted as this is a rich source of vitamin E.

Apart from the dietary measure, there is a curious mechanism in the skin that you can exploit to your advantage. Sebum secretion tends to reduce when the skin is saturated. Therefore, if you substitute the natural skin oil with another type of oil, you might be able to beat the oiliness. Olive or almond oil are good substitutes and are easily absorbed in the skin. If this is too messy, just use a moisturizer like Shea butter or coco butter. If all else fail, use an astringent like dried tea in wet tea bags dabbed on the face.

How to Diagnose a Red Rash on Face

Rashes are never a pleasant experience. Rashes on the face are usually much worse for the sufferer than other places, as they cause a certain degree of embarrassment in addition to the usual health concerns that go along with rashes.
Instructions.

How to Diagnose a Red Rash on Face
Step
1Inspect your rash in a mirror. How does it look? If the red rash is scaly, it could be a certain selection of disorders. However, if it is not scaly, it could be a completely different set of skin problems.

Step
2Feel the rash. If it is rounded it could be many different afflictions. However, if it is flat, it can be an entirely different set of problems. And yet, if it is dry and flaky it could be totally different. Know that red, non-scaly, raised rashes are most commonly caused by insect bites. These small red bumps will be similar to pimples, except you will have numerous pimple-like bumps. Newborns also have similar looking rashes known as Strawberry Nevus.

Step
3Understand that red, non-scaly, flat rashes can be the sign of more serious disorders. Tops among them is measles. Another common affliction is cellulitis, which results in tender skin and must be cured with antibiotics. A serious rash with these symptoms is Stevens Johnson Syndrome which can be a sign of a reaction to medication.

Step
4Investigate red, scaly rashes closely as these can be serious signs of long-term skin disorders. Eczema, ringworm and lupus all share a similar look and all have vary degrees of seriousness and remedies.

Step
5Seek medical advice, if you are unsure of what caused the rash specifically. If you can't diagnose the red rash on your face yourself in a short period of time and if you can't make it go away within a few days or a week, talk with your physician about the issue for proper diagnosis.

How to Get Beautiful, Glowing Skin

Steps
1.Keep makeup to a minimum and be sure to cleanse yourself properly.
2.Apply a sunscreen to your skin and a chap-stick/lip balm with SPF.
3.Wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning when you wake up, like Cetaphil. Think about it - you have been tossing and turning all night on a pillow covered with bacteria and hair product residue.
4.Wash your face before you go to bed at night. Your face has been exposed to polluted air, oils from your hands, and other environmental factors all day. Remember to never go to bed with make-up on.
5.Wash your face with warm/hot water to open your pores. Then use your cleanser and rinse off with warm/hot water. Finish by rinsing with cold water or rubbing ice on your face to close your pores and help keep them clean.
6.Steam your pores open to cleanse about once a week. How?
◦Boil a pot of water. You can add a drop of something like rosemary oil, if you like.
◦Drape a towel over your hair.
◦Hold your face about 6" away from the water's surface for about 3-5 minutes.
◦Cleanse and follow up with the cold water or ice.
7.Exercise. Cardio is what will give your skin that glow, because it stimulates blood flow.
8.Use a nutritive skin care product at night and get plenty of sleep.
9.Use a weekly moisturizing or anti aging mask on face and neck, preferably after exfoliating the skin.
10.Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. This will help clear your skin and give it a glow, because it will help rid toxins from your body.
11.Remember it is crucial to have a healthy diet:
◦You are what you eat, and incorporating healthy food like vegetables, fruits, grains, and protein will help. Omega 3 Fatty Acids found in fish and walnuts is especially beneficial to your skin. Vitamin C will help existing pimples heal faster, so eating a few servings of things like citrus fruits will help. If you're worried you aren't getting enough of necessary vitamins and minerals, try taking a multivitamin.
◦Steer clear of foods and drinks high in sugar and caffeine. Which means you should cut down on, or completely remove soda, coffee, and sugary juices from our diet.
◦Try to consume less than 45g of sugar on a daily basis.
◦Cut down on salty foods. Eating too much salt can make your face look bloated.
12.Exfoliate about once a week also. You can do this by buying an exfoliater or by using a washcloth to rub your cleanser in - just make sure it's clean! Exfoliating will remove dead, dull skin.
13.Always follow up a cleanse with a moisturizer made for your skin type. Especially after exfoliating!
14.Do NOT pick at existing pimples. When you pick at or pop a pimple, you are spreading the bacteria from that onto the rest of your face.
15.Try to keep your hands off your face as much as possible. Your hands naturally have oils on them that can clog pores.
16.Try to keep stress to a minimum. I know for a fact that the majority of us have to deal with stress frequently, but stress can cause break-outs. Try meditating or just taking a few minutes in the day to sit back, clear your mind, and do something you enjoy.
17.Exercise regularly, and drink lots of water.
18.Use a moisturizing or anti aging facial mask once a week, preferably after exfoliating the skin.
19.Use a nutritive skin care product to feed the skin during the night.
20.Get plenty of sleep.

Tips
•Make sure you have a cleanser and moisturizer made for your skin type.
•If you have severe acne, you may want to consult a dermatologist.
•Have patience you should see improvements in about two weeks.

Yogurt Face Mask for Sensitive or Sunburnt Skin

Extra tip: This mask works well for other skin types as well. For oily skin, add a couple drops of lemon or lime juice. For dry skin, mix in a couple tablespoons of honey.
Ingredients:
•1 cup natural yogurt (we like it just-out-of-the-fridge cold)
•½ cup oatmeal (any type of basic oatmeal works here)
Preparation:
Mix the ingredients together.
Apply to the skin for 10-15 minutes.
Wash off mask with a washcloth steamed in the microwave (careful that it's not too hot).
Two other fun options for oatmeal face masks:
Egg whites. Mix the oatmeal and an egg white. Let the mixture dry on face, then gently wash off with a few splashes of warm water. Follow with a steaming washcloth to the face.

Peptol-Bismol. A friend of mine uses Pepto-Bismol with oatmeal for her masks. She got this tip years ago from a magazine. She suggests the active ingredient (bismuth subsalicylate) in Pepto-Bismol soothes your stomach as well as your face.

Milk Mask for Dry Skin

This recipe makes a mask for two
Ingredients:
•1 tsp powdered milk
•1 tbsp runny honey
•1 tsp aloe vera gel
•2 drops essential oil
Preparation:
This is a classic milk mask for the face. Mix ingredients well, apply to face, let sit for 15 minutes, wash off with warm water. This recipe is enough for two. (Note: The original recipe called for 1 tbsp pulverized almonds, but I have removed it from the ingredients list because almonds, no matter how pulverized, can tear at skin).

Avocado Face Mask for Dry Skin

Avocados and honey are particularly moisturizing. This mask is particularly great for mature, wrinkled and dry skin. It's best to use a ripe, fresh, organic avocado. Make sure to mash it up into a creamy pulp.
Ingredients:
•½ avocado
•¼ cup honey
Preparation:
A classic recipe for dry skin. Mash the avocado in a bowl, then stir in honey.
Apply to skin and leave for 10 minutes.
Rinse face with a cool washcloth.

Homemade Face Mask for Ashy Skin

Sugar is a preferred exfoliant to salt because it tends not to tear at the skin. When dead skin collects on the surface of skin, it's important to slough it away. This helps clear up clogged pores. When skin isn't exfoliated, it can appear ashy.
Ingredients:
•2 tbsp sugar
•3 tbsp warm water
Preparation:
Stir sugar into warm water so that it melts.
Make sure granules are dissolved, otherwise they could tear your skin.
Apply to the face.
Gently massage around the skin.
Rinse with warm water OR I like to take a warm washcloth that's steamed in the microwave. Make sure the washcloth is not too hot.

Ayurvedic Skin Care - Herbal Skin Treatment and Remedies
The first step in the ayurvedic approach to skin care is identification of ayurvedic skin type.

Vata Skin Type
If vata is predominant the skin of a person is dry, rough, cold, wrinkled and thin with fine pores. Vata skin may age faster, and tends to be dry, rough and flaky when out of balance.
Vata Skin Care and treatment
Vata skin is typically dry and delicate, and tends to lose tone and plumpness prematurely unless nourished on a regular basis. For Vata skin to stay youthful, skin care products used should be very nurturing and should include some essential oils or herbs in combination, which can nourish the skin and rehydrate it. Some treatment approaches to vata skin care includes having sufficient sleep, eating regular meals that will help balance Vata and nourish the skin and avoiding physical and emotional stress.

Pitta Skin Type

Follow these steps to extract blackheads.

Step 1 – Exfoliating Scrub

Exfoliate your face thoroughly with a facial scrub for five minutes.
Focus on the areas with the most blackheads like your nose, lip area, forehead and cheeks.
Rinse with warm water.

Step 2 – Facial Steam

Add two tablespoons of baking soda to a pot of water and bring it to a boil.
Drape a towel over your head and steam your face for five minutes.
This opens your pores and softens your skin making extraction easier.

Step 3 - Extraction

Use clean fingers or facial sponges to gently squeeze your skin on either side of the blackhead until it pops out.
For deep stubborn blackheads use a blackhead extractor. Gently press down over the blackhead until it comes out.
Wipe a clean cotton ball soaked with astringent over the area to sterilize.

Does DMAE Really live up to the Hype and are There any Side Effects?

DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) is a naturally-occurring substance that can be purchased as DMAE cream, tablets, liquid or capsules. It increases levels of acetylcholine and may also stimulate the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine. This article consists of:

  • Is it possible to get DMAE without prescription?

  • Why DMAE is known as 'smart' or 'brain' drug?

  • Is it possible to improve the appearance of the skin through DMAE?

DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol) is a naturally-occurring substance that can be purchased as DMAE cream, tablets, liquid or capsules. It increases levels of acetylcholine and may also stimulate the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine. It is produced naturally in the brain and found in anchovies and sardines. You can purchase DMAE cream, tablets, liquid, or capsules. The exact benefits and any DMAE side effects have not yet been established.

Recently, there have been claims that when DMAE is applied topically (that is applied to the skin with a DMAE cream or lotion), it has face-lifting and skin-tightening properties.

DMAE is also known as a “brain” or “smart” drug. It increases the chemicals in the brain that are needed for short-term memory, concentration and learning. It has been used to treat children with ADHD and people with Alzheimer's disease.
Is DMAE really effective?
The exact effects of topical DMAE (ie DMAE cream and DMAE lotion) on the skin have not been thoroughly researched. The science world is divided as to the extent DMAE actually works and how it works. Most people agree, though, that DMAE does improve the appearance of the skin.

Studies have been shown that DMAE causes the skin to tighten and tone, particularly around the eyes. DMAE usually produces a noticeable effect, but not the dramatic effect that would occur from a face-lift. Often it may take some time for there to be a dramatic improvement. Continual use will increase the effect.
In Which Ways can DMAE be administered to the skin?
Many skin care companies have released DMAE creams and DMAE lotions. You can also purchase DMAE gel or DMAE lotion. These are applied directly onto the skin, usually once or twice a day. Prices range, but some can be quite expensive. Breaking open a DMAE tablet and applying it to the skin will not have any effect.

Taking DMAE tablets, or eating lots of fish like anchovies and sardines, will also improve the appearance of the skin, but it will not have the effect of a topical DMAE cream. DMAE may also be applied as part of a mesolift, where the face is given micro-injections over a period of two to three years.
Benefits DMAE can present in terms of skin toning and tightening
Topical DMAE (DMAE cream and lotion) can tighten the skin and decrease facial sagging. Neck folds, sagging cheeks, fine links and sagging eyebrows have also been reported to improve after the continual application of DMAE. Some reports even suggest a noticeable improvement after 24 hours.

The DMAE antioxidant properties help the membrane resist stress and protect it from free radical damage. It also increases the effects of other antioxidants in the skin. People who regularly use DMAE often get an improvement in the facial musculature, resulting in a leaner look.
